SAP EPM financial reporting replaced a monthly close that ran on spreadsheets, with data entry that was consistent by design rather than by convention.

The platform integrates SAP and non-SAP sources, which matters because the reporting had to cover the whole enterprise rather than the part that happened to sit on one system. Versions and scenarios can be compared side by side instead of rebuilt each time someone asks.
Pre-built content shortened the deployment and kept the total cost of ownership down. It also meant the team could evaluate SAP Analytics Cloud against the tools they already had, with a working model in front of them rather than a proposal.
