The problem
A landscape that grew faster than the process
Years of acquisitions left more than 60 distinct ERP systems, the majority on SAGE. The annual Excel budget process had become unmanageable and had to be fixed before the next cycle, which was four months away.
An S/4HANA rollout was already in the works, but would take years. So the planning platform had to stand on its own and transition to S/4HANA later as its main source.

Local planners work in their own chart of accounts, and advanced formulas consolidate the result onto the corporate structure. That is what made a single process possible across a landscape this fragmented.
